The Providence Health Care Research Institute is governed by a Board of Trustees, headed by Dr. Yvonne Lefebvre who holds the position of President.

Yvonne Lefebvre, PhD
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Yvonne Lefebvre has conducted research and held appointments at the University of Calgary, the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital, and at Providence Health Care and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

She is currently the Vice President, Research and Academic Affairs at Providence Health Care and the President of the Providence Health Care Research Institute.

Dr. Lefebvre is also a clinical professor and Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Lefebvre’s research focus is steroid hormone action in breast and prostate cancer, as well as in lymphoma and leukemia. She has had a long-standing interest in gender and equity issues in health research and education and has published in this area as well.

From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Lefebvre was the first Assistant Dean for Gender and Equity Issues in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) is the research arm of Providence Health Care, an academic health science centre affiliated with the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.

PHCRI Organizational Structure

Established in 2005, PHCRI promotes research activities throughout its centres: James Hogg Research Centre, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences, Centre for Healthy Aging at Providence, and Centre for Practitioner Renewal.
