Geoff Plant, Chair
 |
Geoff Plant was appointed Chair, PHC Board of Directors, on April 12, 2010. Prior to being appointed as Chair, Geoff served as a member of the PHC board for a year. Geoff Plant is a partner in the Vancouver office of the national law firm Heenan Blaikie LLP. During his nine years as a member of the BC Legislative Assembly, he served as Attorney General of British Columbia and Minister responsible for Treaty Negotiations from 2001 to 2005. Since leaving politics Mr. Plant has undertaken a number of public policy projects. From May 2007 until February 2009 he was Vancouver's Civil City Commissioner, where he advanced several initiatives intended to improve support and services to marginalized populations in Vancouver. He also serves on the board of Covenant House Vancouver, the Kaiser Foundation and the Streetohome Foundation. [ Close ] |
Pierre Le Duc, Co-Vice Chair

Pierre LeDuc is currently a partner in LeDuc Associates Management Consultants. He is Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ondine Biopharma Inc. of Vancouver, BC., and a member of the Board of Directors of Novx Systems Inc. of Markham, Ontario. Pierre has a wide range of health care knowledge gained from his 30+ years in research, product development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing, most of which were with Baxter Corporation. During his 21-year career with Baxter, Pierre held several executive positions, ending with President of Baxter Corporation Canada.

Frank Holler, Co-Vice Chair

Frank Holler is Chief Executive Officer of BC Advantage Funds, a venture capital company that invests in life science and technology companies in British Columbia. He serves as a board member for a number of life science companies and is also a Director of Genome British Columbia. Mark Cullen
 |
Mark Cullen is a retired Vice Chairman of RBC Dominion Securities. He is currently a director of British Columbia Ferry Services and has been a director of a number of BC-based companies including Canfor, MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates, and Terasen for which he also served as Chairman. Over the last 20 years, he has been active in community affairs, with a special interest in St. Paul's Hospital where he was a trustee from 1988 to 1996 and Chair in 1992-4. He is an Honourary Director of St. Paul's Hospital Foundation. He is also on the Advisory Board of the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa.

Delores HolmesDuring her career, Delores Holmes has held a number of prestigious positions, such as a member of the Registered Nurses Association of BC Board, Chair of the Value Analyst Task Force for the District of North Vancouver, Member of the Fundraising Committee of Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, Commissioner for the Children's Commission, and Founding Member of the Board of Governors for the Jane Rowan Society.
She is presently a Member of the Retired Judges Association of BC, the Finance Committee of St. Pius X Church, Fundraising Campaign for Little Flower Academy, Commissioner of the Police Complaints Commission, and Chair of the Board of Referees Human Resources Development Council. Mrs. Holmes has a Law Degree from the University of British Columbia.

Bashir Jaffer
| Bashir is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. Bashir has over 30 years of broad and diverse experience in professional, entrepreneurial, and leadership roles in business as well as in national, provincial and local Community organizations. Bashir has experience as the Board Chair and an active Board member for various organizations in the Lower Mainland. He has also served on the Dean's Advisory Board, UBC Faculty of Commerce, and on the Board of the Vancouver Arts Stabilization Team. Currently he is the Chairman of the Ismaili Conciliation & Arbitration Board for BC. [ Close ]

Les Johnson
| Les Johnson joined Providence Health Care as a Special Committee Appointee in 2004 and is a member of the Quality & Performance Improvement Committee of the Board. He is President of a consulting firm, Quantium Inc. The firm is based on the model of Xerox Quality Services and consists of three principals and nine associates located across Canada. Les has also held
various positions with Xerox such as Organizational Effectiveness Manager,
specializing in process management and business excellence assessments in
Vancouver and Toronto. He is also a volunteer with the BC Centre for Quality

John Kitchen

John Kitchen is currently the President and CEO of Pacific Regeneration Technologies Inc. (PRT), a firm specializing in the culture of reforestation seedlings. John joined PRT in 1994 after operating his own company for many years. He has a wide range of business, marketing and general management experience, along with many year's experience in volunteer emergency services. John is a member of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia, and is also a past Director of the Kinsmen Rehabilitation Foundation. [ Close ]

Dr. Gavin Stuart
 | Dr. Gavin Stuart is Dean of Medicine at UBC and has received both an FRCSC and a FACOG. Dr. Stuart is a noted clinician and researcher whose interests focus mainly in the area of cervical cancer and the conduct of clinical trials as therapeutic interventions in gynecological cancer. Dr. Stuart is Chair for the Gynecology Site Committee of the National Cancer Institute of Canada (NCIC) Clinical Trials Group, a member of the Advisory Committee on Research for the NCIC, and served on the Cancer Surgery Working Group and the Provincial Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for the Alberta Cancer Board.

Don Avison
| Don Avison studied at Thompson Rivers University and Simon Fraser University (Bachelor of Arts) before obtaining a law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1980. After practicing law in the Yukon and in BC, he joined the Federal Department of Justice in 1982. Mr. Avison was subsequently recruited to the Office of the Assistant Deputy Attorney General of Canada in Ottawa. He was appointed to a General Counsel position in 1989 and was the Director General of the Federal Aboriginal Justice Initiative from 1992-94. In 1994, Mr. Avison was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice of the Government of the Northwest Territories, where he would also serve as a Deputy in the Office of the Premier. Mr. Avison returned to BC in 1997, when he was appointed Deputy Minister of Education, Skills and Training. He would later hold Deputy Minister positions in the Crown Corporations Secretariat and Ministry of Health before leaving government in 1999 to become the first President of the University Presidents' Council of British Columbia. That organization evolved into what is now the Research Universities' Council of BC (RUCBC). Mr. Avison left RUCBC in September 2009 to pursue other opportunities. In 2006, Thompson Rivers University recognized Mr. Avison with their Distinguished Alumni Award for his contributions to public service.

Lynette Best
Lynette Best is a retired health care executive, whose health care career included positions of Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing at Providence Health Care, Vice President of Patient Services at Lions Gate Hospital and both teaching and administrative roles in Vancouver. She has also served on several boards including the Canadian Nurses Association, Academy of Chief Executive Nurses of Canada, BC RN Foundation, North Shore Home Support Agency, BC Health Risk Society, and Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia. Steve Fleck
| Steve Fleck is a Vice President with Stantec. He currently serves as the Practice Leader Program and Project Management in Stantec's Canada West and US West Regions. In addition, Steve has corporate responsibility as Practice Leader for Major Projects and Public Private Partnerships.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Civil Engineering from Queen's University at Kingston, Ontario along with a Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of BC and the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
He teaches project management at the BC Institute of Technology and has lectured in project management at the University of BC and Penn State University. He has served on two terms (eight years) as a director of the Consulting Engineers of BC (CEBC) and is currently designated director of CEBC and will be President of the organization in 2012/13.
He also serves in a number of volunteer capacities in his home community of Vancouver. He serves as the chairman of the Building Committee, and member of the Finance Council for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. He has also been very involved in youth soccer, as a coach and manager for the past 12 years and also as a Director of the Dunbar Soccer Association and President of Vancouver Richmond Girls Soccer Association. Sr. Anne Hemstock
| Sr. Anne Hemstock is was on the Provincial Council for the Sisters of Charity of Providence of Western Canada and the Provincial Secretary for eight years and the Sisters of Charity of Providence in British Columbia. She has over ten years experience in health-care based spiritual care program planning, patient/resident care and training of spiritual care volunteers.
As a member of the provincial council for the Sisters of Charity of Providence in Western Canada and Provincial Secretary her portfolio includes responsibility for files and archives for the congregation in Western Canada. She is a member of the Board of Trustees, Saint Mary's Hospital, New Westminster BC and Father Lacombe Care Centre, Calgary, AB. She has chaired Saint Mary's Hospital Ethics and Mission Integration Committees; and is a Member of Mission Integration Committee, Father Lacombe Care Centre, Calgary, AB. [ Close ] |
Paul Langley
| Paul is a Partner at Capital West Partners, an investment banking firm providing mergers, acquisitions and financing advice to clients in Western Canada. Paul's career in investment banking spans 16 years. Paul has led numerous transactions, including equity and debt financings, acquisition and divestiture transactions, and corporate restructuring assignments across a wide range of industries for public and private companies as well as public sector clients. Prior to joining Capital West, his career included investment banking roles with CIBC World Markets in both Vancouver and Calgary, and previous to that, Morgan Stanley in London, England. Paul also spent three years with Price Waterhouse Management Consulting prior to his investment banking career. Paul obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree, with Honours, from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. [ Close ] |
Dan Wilton
| Dan is a Managing Director in National Bank Financial's Vancouver office with dedicated coverage responsibility for the mining sector. Over the past 4 years, Dan has led several equity financings for Canadian-based junior mining companies developing projects in Asia. Prior to joining NBF, Dan was a Director of Business Development for General Electric's European financial services businesses based in London, England, and was responsible for acquisitions of financial services platforms in Central and Eastern Europe.
Dan's investment banking career has included a variety of coverage and execution roles at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Toronto, with a focus on equity raising, project financing and mergers
and acquisitions assignments for clients in the natural resources and energy sectors.
